A chandelier is a good addition to a luxurious room or hall in your house. A well-placed and properly installed one will not only provide beauty into an area but it will also enable a location to maximize its ambiance. However, it is important to consider a few things before you install a chandelier to ensure that you will absolutely reap the benefits it provides.
Just follow the simple steps below:
1. Check the Specs
Check the weight of the chandelier. Make sure that the ceiling can handle it. See to it that the junction box can also support it. If the weight of the chandelier is heavier than the ceiling or junction box, make the necessary adjustments by strengthening the support of the ceiling and by replacing the junction box.
2. Turn Off Power
Prior to installation, turn off the circuit in the breaker that is connected to the ceiling junction box where the chandelier will be placed.
3. Remove Old Fixture
If there is an existing fixture in the place where you want to put the unit, remove it first. Mark the wires with a tape though for reference later on. Do this also with the junction box if it needs to be replaced.
4. Connect Mounting Strap
Then, connect the mounting strap to the hardware. Ensure that all the screws of the mounting strap are drilled into the junction box to prevent the unit from falling off.
5. Wire It
Use the wires that were previously connected to your old unit, which are the ones you taped earlier. Twist the wire nuts clockwise to strengthen the connection.
6. Refer to Guide
The process of assembly may slightly differ with every model. So for this part, just refer to the instruction manual that came in the package.
To make things easier for you, get someone to assist you with the installation. It is advisable for you to hire an electrician as well if you are not that familiar with the wiring procedures. This will not only guarantee that you will install the product well but this will also ensure your safety.
