If your kitchen features a funky architectural feature, don’t try to fix it, embrace it. It is a normal reaction to want to hide the unique feature or get rid of it in its entirety, but it is these unique features that lend character to the space. Whether the space has a coffer in the ceiling or an arch opening the kitchen to an adjacent room, your kitchen’s funkiness can be used to create a beautiful, unique space. Consider using the same tile on the inside of the arch to pull the design elements together. To create a dramatic contrast between the architectural feature and the rest of the kitchen, use darker colored materials with the feature and lighter colors on the cabinets and floors.
